Gary Swenson of Port Hueneme turned in a dominating performance Saturday night by winning every race he entered at Ventura Raceway.

Swenson, a Mini Stock division driver, won the 15-lap oval main event, the eight-lap figure-eight main and a heat race and the Trophy Dash for fast qualifiers.

Each main-event victory was a career first for Swenson, who is now in second place in the points standings in both the oval and figure-eight competition. Second-place finisher Gary Hubert of Camarillo was denied the checkered flag for the first time in four races this season. Jim Tietz of Camarillo was third.

In a wild Street Stock 20-lap race, Scott Niven of Agoura Hills avoided the slower lapped traffic on the final lap to record his first main-event victory of the season and the second of his career at Ventura.

Paul Moore of Oxnard had a sizable lead on Lap 17 when debris on the track brought out a yellow flag and bunched up the field to create the wild finish.

James Weston of Santa Barbara got under Moore on the restart and took the lead on Lap 18 but spun out heading into Lap 19. When the white flag came out for the final lap, Moore got caught behind rookie driver Curtis Dietzsch of Ventura on the front straightaway, and Niven steered inside and edged Adail Gayhart of Malibu by a car length.

Leonard Rowe, 62, of Oxnard made it four different winners in as many races in the IMCA Modified eight-lap main event with a wire-to-wire victory. Bob McMahon of Port Hueneme was second and Ventura’s Don Keeter third.
