A 27-year-old Oxnard man was in critical condition Monday after being robbed and severely beaten outside a north Oxnard convenience store, authorities said.

Police found Kenny Lamont Edwards unconscious in the parking lot of Stop N Go market at 1954 N. Ventura Road at 2:20 a.m. Monday after a store employee reported a robbery in progress, Oxnard Police Sgt. Dan Christian said.

Edwards was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, then transferred to the intensive care unit of Ventura County Medical Center. He suffered a broken jaw and other facial injuries, police said.
