Vote Challenge Rejected

The Altadena Town Council has rejected a defeated candidate’s challenge to its recent election.

The Town Council executive committee rejected a claim by Jonathan Vos Post that winner Craig Hall broke election laws, said Cue McKenzie, vice chairman of the council.

McKenzie said the executive committee at the regularly scheduled council meeting May 18 decided to deny Vos Post’s challenge in Census Tract 4602.

Vos Post said he will contest the May 8 election at higher levels, perhaps with the county or state. He said he was not present when the executive committee made its decision and was not informed of the meeting.

In a five-page letter to the council, Vos Post claimed that Hall’s son and daughter violated federal election law by campaigning within 100 feet of the polling station at the Bank of America at Lake Avenue and Marcheta Street.

Vos Post, who was defeated by a vote of 105 to 95, said the winning margin was secured at Bank of America and wanted at least the results from that polling place thrown out.
