THOUSAND OAKS : Motel Maid Raped While Cleaning Room
Detectives on Wednesday were searching for a man in connection with the rape of a 22-year-old Thousand Oaks woman at a Newbury Park motel where she works as a maid.
Sheriff’s deputies said the attack occurred about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday when a man slipped into the room the woman was cleaning at the motel on West Hillcrest Drive. He immediately began punching her in the face and then raped her. During the attack, she tried to fight back, but he choked her until she blacked out, deputies said. The suspect was leaving the room as she regained consciousness.
The woman was treated for a broken cheekbone and other injuries at Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
Sheriff’s Detective Mike Powers said investigators have no suspects. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Powers or Detective Bob LeMay at 494-8229 or 494-8228.
Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 494-TALK. The program will pay a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and criminal complaint against the person responsible.
