LOCAL NOTES : Alicia Allison Among Leaders in Junior Golf

Alicia Allison of Santa Ana is two strokes off the lead after shooting a two-over-par 74 Tuesday at the Las Vegas Founders' Legacy junior tournament conducted by the American Junior Golf Assn.

Allison, tied with three others for third place, trails leader Allison Wilson of North Hollywood after the first round of the girls' 13-14 division on the 5,763-yard Legacy Golf Club course in Henderson, Nev.

Hoping to strengthen its defense, the Salsa signed two defenders, Danny Pena and Lawrence Lozzano, Tuesday on the final day roster moves were permitted in the American Professional Soccer League.

Pena and Lozzano play for the San Francisco Bay Blackhawks and are being loaned by the team for the rest of the season. They played two seasons with the Blackhawks, who dropped their APSL affiliation after last season, and helped the team to the league title in 1991.

Pena, 25, was a first-team All-APSL selection in 1991. Lozzano, 22, is a natural defender but might also play midfielder for the Salsa.

Jacqueline Hullah, a Cal State Fullerton graduate who led the women's basketball team at Dartmouth to five consecutive Ivy League championships, was hired as coach of the women's team at Arizona State.

She replaces Maura McHugh, who left coaching after last season.

Hullah, a 1978 graduate of Fullerton, was a starting forward-guard for the Titans.
