A handful of area players are within striking range after one round of the Las Vegas Founders’ Legacy junior tournament.
Darren Angel of Granada Hills High fired a one-under-par 71 Tuesday at the Legacy Golf Club and is three shots behind Roger Tambellini of Templeton, Calif., who leads the boys’ 15-18 division.
Art Weiner of Taft High shot a 73. Scott Heyn (Alemany) shot 75, Scott Golditch (Taft) had a 76 and Josh Jacobs of Grant posted a 78.
Allison Wilson of Grant leads the girls’ division after shooting a 72.

Barry Gurney of West Hills averaged 235.39 to lead 159 rivals through 18-game qualifying round at the $75,000 Canadian Senior PBA Bowling Open in Montreal.
