Kellee Booth Wins in Wisconsin for Her Fourth Title of Year

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza shot par 72 to win the girls’ title at the Wilson Geneva National Junior Championships in Lake Geneva, Wis., her fourth American Junior Golf Assn. title of the year. Her 54-hole total was two-over 218.

Booth, who will be a senior at Santa Margarita High this fall, started Friday’s round tied for first with Heather Graff of Kenewick, Wash. But Graff’s 79 dropped her to a tie for second place, seven shots behind Booth.

UCLA’s Keri Phebus, a former Corona del Mar standout, defeated Christy Propstra of San Diego State, 6-4, 7-5, to advance to the singles final of the Oakwood/Marymount College Circuit Tournament at the Oakwood Newport North Tennis Courts.

Phebus will play Lisa Alipaz, a graduate of Canyon High who plays at San Diego State, in the final at 1 p.m. today. Alipaz beat Aztec teammate Shawn Egan, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinals. Alipaz and Propstra defeated Renee Marshall of Colorado and Dana Light of Pacific in the women’s doubles final, 6-4, 6-4.

In men’s singles semifinals, UCLA’s Heath Montgomery beat Jason Harnett of Washington and Mater Dei, 6-4, 6-3, and Remy Pop of Boise State beat Tim Leonard of Texas Christian, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. The final is at noon today.
