Baker & Taylor Affiliated Labels, a Simi Valley distributor of entertainment, educational and business-related software, has had its contract renewed as exclusive marketer of disk-based video games produced by LucasArts Entertainment Co.
The one-year extension means that Baker & Taylor will continue distributing all LucasArts titles on disk, including “Fate of Atlantis,” a new game based on the “Indiana Jones” movies. LucasArts is headed by filmmaker George Lucas.
Baker & Taylor and its parent, Baker & Taylor Software, moved to Simi Valley in May. Spokeswoman Erica Dunnigan said the company represents several leading software producers.
The Simi Valley operations are part of New Jersey-based Baker & Taylor Inc., a privately held book, video and software distributor with annual sales of $900 million.
Baker & Taylor employs 150 people in Simi Valley, but that figure should double later this month when the company’s video and book operations move from New Jersey, Dunnigan said.
“We’re doing very well,” she said. “Among other things, we’re benefiting from the growth of interactive video and TV.”
