LOCAL NOTES : Booth Shoots 71 Again and Wins by 11 Strokes

Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza shot a two-under-par 71 for the second consecutive day to win the Rolex Tournament of Champions junior golf tournament by 11 strokes.

Booth led after a first-round 72, but fell into second place by a stroke with a second-round 76. She closed out the tournament in impressive fashion, though. She had a six-shot lead after the third round and added another five strokes to it Friday at the Bend Country Club course in Roswell, Ga.

Kelli Kuehne of Dallas shot 76 to finish second.

Alicia Allison of Santa Ana shot an 80 in the final round to finish 14th, 27 shots behind Booth.

Fullerton College’s Angie Guerrero and Golden West’s Marcy Rainwater have signed letters of intent to play softball at Cal State Fullerton, the school announced.

Guerrero, a pitcher and first baseman, was a two-time all-state selection at Fullerton. Rainwater, a shortstop and third baseman, was Golden West’s MVP the past two years.

In Motion volleyball club players Jennifer Stroffe and Misty May have been named to the 12-member USA youth national volleyball team after a tryout at the U.S. Olympic training center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

May, a junior at Newport Harbor, and Stroffe, a Corona del Mar senior, will play for the USA team in a series of upcoming matches in Canada.
