Replacement Gutierrez Fights Lopez Tonight
Oscar (the Ghost) Lopez of Mexicali, Mex., meets Mauro (Betillo) Gutierrez in the 10-round main event tonight at the Reseda Country Club.
Lopez, a lightweight (138 pounds) is 18-6-1 with eight knockouts. Gutierrez, of Tijuana, is 47-19-5 with 28 knockouts. He replaced Omar Flores, who was dropped from the card because of immigration problems.
Five bouts are scheduled on the undercard, beginning at 7:30 p.m. In an eight-round junior middleweight fight, Young Dick Tiger of Nigeria (27-10, 19 knockouts) is matched against Carlton Banks of San Francisco (11-7-1, three knockouts).
Arnuflo (Chico) Castillo of Mexicali (5-0, four knockouts) meets Ramon (the Destroyer) Soto (9-8, six knockouts) a featherweight four-rounder. In another four-round featherweight fight, Juan Lazcano makes his pro debut against Chris Crespin (2-6-3) of Las Lunas, N.M.
In the final four-rounder, welterweight Lee Tonks of Britain (4-2, one knockout) takes on Natividad Luna (4-9-1) of Mexico. Before the main event, Sugar Shane Mosley (2-0, both knockouts) is slated for a six-rounder in the lightweight division against Pey Castillo of Tucson, Ariz., (4-1, one knockout).
