This Time Catfish Lake Lived Up to Its Name
In another week for big catfish, Catfish Lake at the Santa Ana River Lakes in Anaheim produced the biggest: a 4 1/2-foot, 52-pound 6-ounce catch by Lee Porter of Los Angeles.
It took Porter 20 minutes to land the fish. John Smith of Moreno Valley captured it in a large net as anglers along the shore cheered. After weighing and photographing the fish, Porter released it and lakes public relations director Jim Niemiec swam with it for about two hours until it recovered enough to dive back to the bottom.
