Andrew Lorraine, a left-handed pitcher from Newhall Hart High who was the most valuable player at Stanford last season, is expected to sign with the Angels today. Lorraine, 20, was chosen in the fourth round of the June draft.

Lorraine, who has not pitched since the college season ended, will report to the Angels’ rookie league team in Mesa, Ariz.

Lorraine was an All-Pacific 10 Conference selection last spring after an 8-6 record with a 4.15 earned-run average. He led the team with 123 2/3 innings and nine complete games.
