LOCAL NOTES : Irvine's Meyers Wins Tennis Title

Jason Meyers of Irvine defeated Allan Jurlina of Imperial Beach, 6-4, 6-4, to win the boys' 18-and-under title of the 45th U.S. Tennis Assn. National Public Parks Junior tennis tournament at Chapman University.

Stella Gonzalez of Placentia beat Eliza Gano of Carson, 6-0, 6-1, in the girls' 18-and-under final.

Other Orange County winners were: Chase Exon of Irvine, who beat Kevin Arnold of Laguna Hills, 6-4, 6-3, in the boys' 14-and-under division; Holli Freudenberg of Orange, who beat Shannon Wilkins of Irvine, 6-1, 6-3, in the girls' 14-and-under; Cody Jackson of Westminster, who beat Jaideep Dore of Irvine, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, in boys' 12-and-under; Etel Bugescu of Irvine, who beat Sarah Barker of Newport Beach by default in girls' 12-and-under; Nicolas Agnihotri of Lake Forest, who beat Alfonso Brigham of Los Angeles, 6-1, 6-0, in boys' 10-and-under, and Amberly Tantee of Dana Point, who beat Cameryn Oar of Yucaipa, 6-3, 6-3, in girls' 10-and-under.


Richie Collins of Newport Beach won the longboarding event at the Acura Integra Malibu Pro surfing contest at Surfrider Beach.

Collins finished ahead of finalists Josh Baxter, Colin McPhillips and Jeff Kramer, all of San Clemente.

Chris Brown of Santa Barbara won the open event.
