Two brothers were seriously injured Saturday in Ventura when their motorcycle slammed into the side of a car on the Main Street on-ramp to the Ventura Freeway, authorities said.
The brothers, Andrew Patterson, 25, and Timothy Patterson, 32, both of Virginia, were riding together when car in front of them, driven by Gabriel Tabyanan, 47, of Goleta, made a U-turn after starting onto the on-ramp, police said.
The motorcycle hit the side of the car, throwing the elder brother, who was the passenger, over the car and onto the roadway, police said.
Although both brothers were wearing helmets, Andrew Patterson suffered head and abdominal injuries, authorities said.
He was in critical condition late Saturday at Ventura County Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said.
Timothy Patterson was in serious condition at the medical center with back and knee injuries, authorities said. Tabyanan was not hurt.
An investigation was continuing.
