BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Marlins’ Sheffield Has Sore Shoulder
Third baseman Gary Sheffield did not travel with the Florida Marlins from Montreal to St. Louis, instead flying to Miami for an examination of his injured right shoulder. Sheffield suffered the injury Sunday diving back to first base on a pickoff attempt.
“He doesn’t have much strength in his shoulder, and his range of motion is very limited,” Marlin Manager Rene Lachemann said. “This could be very little, or it could be very big.”
