Celebrities to Play Benefit Basketball
Representatives from the Long Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) and the Xerox Corp. will compete in The Great Long Beach Shootout at 1 p.m. Saturday in the University Gym at Cal State Long Beach.
Actress Charlene Tilton (“Dallas”) will serve as the celebrity host. Anthony Peeler of the Los Angeles Lakers, heavyweight boxer Jeremy Williams and actor Cliff Powell (“Roc”) will be among the VIP players.
Tickets to the basketball game are $10. Proceeds will go toward construction of a basketball court for the PAL Youth Center in Long Beach. PAL is a recreational and educational outreach program that fosters a positive relationship between police officers and urban youths.
