New York Yankee owner George Steinbrenner, who has cited small crowds as one reason he’s considering moving the team, got what he said he wanted.

A crowd of 52,493 saw the Yankees defeat the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-4, Thursday at Yankee Stadium for a split of their series. The four games against the first-place Blue Jays attracted 192,078, an average of slightly more than 48,000. Steinbrenner has been threatening for weeks to move the Yankees out of the Bronx if attendance didn’t pick up.
