LOCAL NOTES : Zubrin, Brown Finish One-Two in U.S. Diving
Mission Viejo Nadadores teammates Sandy Zubrin and Summer Brown finished first and second Saturday in the girls’ 16-18 one-meter springboard competition at the U.S. Junior Olympic diving championships in Pasadena.
Zubrin, who will be a junior at Corona del Mar this fall, scored 392.25 points for the victory. Brown, a junior at Capistrano Valley, scored 386.50.
The top divers in the meet, which runs through Monday at the AAF Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, qualify for this month’s FINA World Age Group Diving Championships in London.

Garth Erickson and Harley Bertram, both of Mission Viejo, finished first and second in the boys’ age 12 division of the kumite competition at the AAU Junior Olympics in Knoxville, Tenn.
Kumite is a martial arts discipline.
