Man Arrested in Shooting Death
Police on Sunday arrested a man suspected of shooting to death a 22-year-old man and wounding his 25-year-old friend in a restaurant parking lot.
Authorities declined to provide the suspect’s identity or details of the arrest.
Police said the shootings occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday in a restaurant parking lot at 1030 S. Main St., near McFadden Avenue.
The suspect approached Carlos Roberto De La Cruz of Santa Ana and fired a handgun, killing him, said Sgt. Dick Faust. The victim died at the scene.
The suspect then chased the 25-year-old man through the parking lot, firing multiple gunshots at him, Faust said. The victim was taken to Western Medical Center, where he underwent surgery and was listed Sunday morning in stable condition, Faust said. His identity has not yet been released.
The suspect left the parking lot on foot. No motive for the shooting has been established, Faust said.
