Earl S. Ricker; ‘Voice of the Rose Bowl’

Earl S. Ricker, 93, known as Pasadena’s “Voice of the Rose Bowl.” Ricker, a native of Pasadena educated at Occidental College, was active in the Tournament of Roses Assn. for six decades and announced the annual Rose Bowl football game 39 times. He also served as president of the Arcadia School Board. Ricker spent 42 years with Pacific Telephone Co. and as an avocation built luxury homes in Pasadena, Arcadia and San Marino. After his retirement in 1974, Ricker moved to Escondido, where he worked to change his neighborhood address to Bonsall. On Friday in Bonsall, Calif.

Earl S. Ricker--The Times on Wednesday incorrectly stated in an obituary about Earl S. Ricker, a longtime member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Assn., that he was 93. Ricker, who had retired to Bonsall, Calif., was 84.
