Police arrested three men Thursday morning as they walked along a street carrying guns and a coin collection that had been stolen from a nearby house.

The three suspects allegedly broke into the home of a couple vacationing in Puerto Rico, police said. Neighbors called officers after they heard glass breaking at the house in the 4600 block of Cathy Avenue and then saw three people running away about 4:15 a.m.

Officers arrested the three men as they were walking on Cerritos Avenue, just west of Moody Street, Detective Paulo Morales said. The suspects had with them stolen belongings--including a silver coin collection--stuffed in a garment bag and were carrying two handguns and a rifle also taken from the home, Morales said.

Police said the suspects planned the burglary after two of them talked with the daughter of Hector Bermudez, 56, and Cecilia Bermudez, 57. The daughter said her parents were going to be on vacation and that her father had weapons in the house.

Police do not think the daughter was involved in the burglary, in which about $10,000 worth of goods was taken.

Arrested on suspicion of burglary and possession of stolen property were Scott Fish, 19, of Anaheim; Mike Blythe, 20, of Buena Park, and Joseph Howard, 19, of Anaheim. They were booked into Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 each, Morales said.
