‘Vehicle Tag’ Turns Deadly for Man, 25

A 25-year-old Leona Valley man died Saturday after a game of “vehicle tag” turned ugly, authorities said.

Details of the incident were sketchy, but authorities believe two carloads of people traveling north Friday night on the Antelope Valley Freeway began shouting and throwing things at each other in a game called “vehicle tag,” said a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who asked not to be identified.

The game turned into an argument and the cars pulled off the freeway, the deputy said. The victim, David Tilley, 25, got out of one of the cars and was struck by the other vehicle about 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Avenue P in Palmdale, the deputy said. Tilley was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he died about 1 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Ron Spear, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
