Arcadia : Teacher Arrested in Pot Raid

A Pasadena City College assistant professor has been released on bond after being arrested on suspicion of cultivating marijuana with the intent to distribute it, police said.

Daniel Tiberi, 43, was arrested Friday following an early morning raid on his home in an unincorporated county area near Arcadia. The raid yielded about 80 pounds of marijuana, Arcadia Police Capt. David Hinig said.

The raid was conducted by an anti-drug task force drawn from a variety of county law enforcement agencies, he said. Police said they learned of the plants during undercover operations.

Drug enforcement officers recovered 10 eight-foot-tall plants from the back yard of the house in the 9100 block of East Arcadia Avenue, he said.

Tiberi was booked into the city jail on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, police said. He was released on $50,000 bond, and no arraignment date has been set.

Tiberi, an assistant professor in the college’s social sciences department who teaches psychology, could not be reached for comment.

Mark Wallace, Pasadena City College spokesman, said Tiberi, who has taught at the college for 16 years, has been placed on paid leave pending resolution of the charges.
