Motorist Fatally Shot, Hits Parked Vehicles

A motorist died late Wednesday when he was shot and his car smashed into several parked vehicles in North Hills, police said.

As of late Thursday, the name of the 24-year-old victim had not been released because his relatives had not been notified.

Police Detective Mike Young said the incident started about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday when the victim was confronted by three men in the 8500 block of Columbus Avenue. It was unclear whether the victim was driving his car or was parked at the time. But after a brief encounter, one of the men shot the victim, Young said.

The victim was able to drive a short distance before he lost control of the car and smashed into several parked vehicles, Young said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and there have been no arrests.
