Police Officer Fatally Shoots Man in Office
A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed an unidentified man Saturday afternoon after the suspect lunged at the officer inside a closed office building in the Westlake area, a police spokesman said.
Police said the suspect charged at Officer Joel Espinoza, who fired four shots. It was not known if the suspect was armed.
The man climbed into the back of a pickup at Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, police said. The driver drove to an apartment building at Beverly Boulevard and Bonnie Brae Avenue, where he and friends chased the suspect to a nearby office building, where the shooting occurred during a search.
