OUTLOOK

The Flames, who entered last season as the favorite to win the newly created Division XI, had their chances extinguished when running back Mike Jacot broke his foot in the fifth game. Jacot, who gained 2,037 yards and set a county record with 37 touchdowns in 1991 when SCC won the Division X title, returns but only as an assistant coach. So the Flames will have to look elsewhere for offense as they try to make the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season. Felten, a lefty, will be counted on as a runner and a passer, and although Wood doesn’t have Jacot’s breakaway speed, Esposito expects him to gain at least 1,000 yards. The defense is solid, anchored by Cancino.
