COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Rancho Santiago Wins Again in Water Polo

Jeremy Yorba and Josh Routon had five goals each as Rancho Santiago beat Fullerton, 18-11, in a nonconference water polo game Tuesday at Rancho Santiago.

Brad Bracha added four goals for host Rancho Santiago (3-0), which led, 13-10, after three quarters but outscored Fullerton, 5-1, in the final quarter.

In another nonconference game:

Chaffey 18, Cypress 9--The teams were tied, 6-6, at the half, but visiting Chaffey outscored Cypress, 7-1, in the third quarter. Marc Havran had three goals for Cypress (0-1). Chaffey is 4-1-1.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 2, Glendale 1--Willie Santos scored a goal in the first half and Alex Perez scored the winning goal in the second half off an assist from Santos as Fullerton (1-0-1) defeated host Glendale.

Goalie Neal Schuster, a graduate from Brea-Olinda High and a recent transfer from San Francisco State, recorded six saves for Fullerton.

Cypress 2, Long Beach 1--Pat Trevino scored with five minutes left to break a 1-1 tie for host Cypress (1-0). Eric Pichardo scored five minutes earlier to tie it for Cypress.

Irvine Valley 3, Moorpark 3--Irvine Valley (2-1) took a 2-1 lead into halftime before they went down, 3-2, in the second half. Jason Sorrell scored in the 81st minute to tie it, 3-3. Irvine Valley had a chance to take the lead when Jeff Rynders got free on a breakaway in the 84th minute but Moorpark goalie Chad Riser made the save to secure the tie.

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Long Beach 0, Irvine Valley 0--Allegra Garcia had 10 saves for host Irvine in the Lasers’ season opener. Long Beach is 0-2-2.
