SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Keith Ginter scored five touchdowns, including a 63-yard pass interception return, as Fullerton rolled over California High of Whittier, 40-15, Thursday night.

Ginter, a senior all-purpose back, had a hand in all but one of the Indians’ touchdowns. Besides the interception return, he scored on pass receptions of 31, 26 and 52 yards and rushed for a nine-yard score.

“I’ve never had a game like this,” Ginter said. “It was a team effort and the touchdowns all came on good passes.”

Ginter combined with quarterback Christopher Young on all three scoring receptions. Young completed six of 11 passes for 143 yards and also scored on a 42-yard run in the first half.

The Indians (1-1) led, 27-3, at the half. Young hit Ginter for 52 yards and a touchdown early in the third quarter to make the score 34-3.

California (0-2) scored on a seven-yard blocked punt return by Richard Armero to make it 34-9, but Ginter scored his fifth touchdown of the night on the interception return early in the fourth to give Fullerton a 31-point lead.
