South Pasadena 29, Hoover 24--Quarterback Scott Hofman’s 43-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jensen Atwood with five minutes to play lifted South Pasadena (2-0) at Hoover.

Hoover (0-2) was led by running back Hung Hynuh, who carried 28 times for 152 yards and scored on runs of one, one and two yards. Hynuh’s one-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter gave Hoover a 24-21 lead.

Hoover quarterback Alan Lau completed 11 of 20 passes for 132 yards. Hoover’s Steve Sau caught eight passes for 87 yards.
