Shaun Williams
SCHOOL: Crespi
SPORT: Football
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: Williams, considered a top prospect at running back and defensive back, has gained 375 yards in 62 carries. On defense, he had 19 tackles, including 11 solo, against Canyon in the second game of the season. He was named team offensive and defensive player of the week after that game.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Facing off against Chaminade’s Franklin Saunders, Williams won the personal battle and clinched the game with a 58-yard touchdown run on fourth and one with 2 minutes 24 seconds to play. Crespi won, 27-15. Williams finished with 219 yards, outdoing Saunders with 186. “I know (Saunders) is considered one of the best out here,” Williams said, “so I felt like I had something to prove.” Williams’ fourth-quarter run is more impressive considering he suffered a slightly twisted ankle on defense in the first half. Williams, who scored two touchdowns, had eight runs of 10 yards or more.
