SEASON AT A GLANCE: Russell is the integral player for the undefeated Indians (7-0) and leads the team with 108 kills.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Russell led Burroughs in kills in each of the team’s three matches last week. The Indians won each match in the minimum three games, and the 5-foot-8 middle hitter averaged 14.7 kills a match. “If she were six feet tall, she’d take over Southern California,” Coach Linda Murphy said. Russell, an All-Foothill League second-team selection last season as a freshman, is the third member of her family to play for Murphy at Burroughs. Sisters Loretta, 20, and Jeanie, 18, blazed the trail.
