EL CAMINO (1-2) vs. PALOMAR (3-0) At El Camino, 7 p.m.

El Camino has proven itself offensively, but the question is whether the Warriors have the defense to stop the nation’s third-ranked team in the USA Today poll. El Camino has given up an average of 30.3 points and 393.7 yards. That doesn’t bode well for the Warriors considering that Palomar’s offense, led by quarterback Tom Luginbill, averages nearly 500 yards. El Camino must also slow Comet receiver Andreal Climon and running back Tony Burton. Palomar is no slouch on defense, ranking first in the Mission Conference. They have given up only 24 points, most of which came in a 42-18 victory over Pasadena on Saturday. Quarterback Steve Sarkisian has passed for 699 yards and five touchdowns and tight end Damon Terrell has 17 catches for 249 yards, but the Warriors have struggled to run the ball.

SOUTHWEST (0-2) vs. MOORPARK (1-1) At Moorpark, 7 p.m.

Southwest is second in the Western State Conference in defense, giving up an average of 249 yards a game. The Cougars have gained more yards than their two opponents, but scored only six points in each game. “We know what we’re doing wrong and we know what to do about it,” Southwest Coach Henry Washington said. “We feel if we can stay with (Moorpark) for the first half, we have a good chance to win it.” Moorpark, which is averaging 377.5 yards on offense, is led by quarterback Todd Preston, regarded as one of the best passers in the state, and running back Gil Carrillo. Southwest quarterback Bradley Freeman has passed for 320 yards, but completed only 33.8% of his attempts.
