Buena 28, Rio Mesa 22--Buena defender Scott Ruffin recovered Rio Mesa quarterback Don DiDomizio’s fumble at the Buena 10-yard line with 50 seconds left to preserve the Bulldogs’ come-from-behind victory at Ventura High.

Bulldog running back George Keiaho rushed for 267 yards and four touchdowns--including two in a 40-second span late in the fourth quarter--to cap a thrilling 21-point quarter.

Keiaho carried 32 times and scored on runs of 21, eight, five and 10 yards, the last coming with 3:02 to play after Cicilio Flores recovered an onside kick at the Rio Mesa 30.

Keiaho’s five-yard score with 3:42 left cut the Spartan lead to 22-20.

Keiaho’s performance overshadowed a great effort by DiDomizio, who rushed for 158 yards in 16 carries and scored touchdowns from 11, 60 and 44 yards. Rio Mesa fell to 3-1; Buena is 2-2.
