One person was killed and several others injured in a five-car accident Friday night caused by a man who later told police he suffered an epileptic seizure while driving, police said.

The name of the 26-year-old North Hollywood man who died was withheld by police until notification of next of kin, according to Sgt. Ben Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver who said he suffered the seizure was identified by police as Robert Ouzeil, 30, of Studio City. Lee said Ouzeil’s Honda Accord was traveling at an estimated 70 m.p.h. at the time of the crash.

Ouzeil was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills where he was treated.

Ouzeil’s car was traveling westbound on Moorpark Street, Lee said, when it struck the car driven by the man who died. Ouzeil’s vehicle then continued across the intersection at Laurel Canyon Boulevard, Lee said, and struck two vehicles in the eastbound lane. The impact of that collision sent the fourth vehicle backward into a fifth vehicle stopped at the traffic signal, Lee said.
