Van Herk was frustrated with her inability to score goals early this season. Coach Ray Haas assured her that it was better for several people to score and not just a few. Although Van Herk agreed, she still wanted to score more. She ended her scoring drought last week with four goals and an assist as the Chargers won twice. Van Herk had three goals in a 4-0 victory over Fullerton, then got a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory over Golden West. The offensive burst gave her six goals this season.

* Teresa Vega of Fullerton was ninth in a field of 163 runners at the Irvine Invitational cross-country race.
