Eric Dickerson’s stint with the Atlanta Falcons has ended. The team announced that the NFL’s No. 2 all-time rusher had informed the team he was retiring. . . . Tackle David Williams of the Houston Oilers decided against filing a grievance over being docked a week’s pay for missing a game to be with his wife and newborn son. . . . Running back Rueben Mayes of the Seattle Seahawks announced his retirement after Coach Tom Flores told Mayes, 30, that he was going to put him on injured reserve, meaning Mayes would be sidelined the rest of the season. . . . Wide receiver Mike Sherrard of the New York Giants, who suffered a dislocated hip last Sunday, has been readmitted to the hospital because of a blood clot in the hip. . . .The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms on a one-year contract with James Lofton, 37, the NFL’s career leader in receiving yards. . . . San Diego Charger outside linebacker Jerrol Williams underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder and doctors said that Williams suffered a dislocation, trainer Keoki Kamau said.
