Senior Aaron Muth had four goals and an assist to lead Cal Lutheran to a 12-0 men’s soccer victory over Occidental on Wednesday.
Muth (11 goals for the season) scored the second, third, fourth and sixth goals of the match--all in the first half.
Sophomore Per Roald scored his 26th and 27th goals and assisted on Kevin Hesser’s goal that opened the scoring 5 minutes 55 seconds into the match. Cal Lutheran (11-3-1, 7-0-1 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play) led, 7-0, at halftime. Occidental fell to 0-13, 0-7.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Kennedy d. Reseda, 15-11, 15-5, 11-15, 15-13--Talin Stepanian had 14 kills and Stacy Tran had 22 assists to lead the visiting Golden Cougars (3-6, 3-4) to a Northwest Valley Conference victory. Denh Vong had four aces for Kennedy.
Montclair Prep d. Western Christian, 15-13, 15-0, 15-2--Reagan Greene had 14 kills and 14 assists while teammate Vanessa Richlin had 10 kills and 14 assists in a nonleague match. Montclair Prep improved to 7-3.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Nordhoff 19, Malibu 5--Dave Ford scored six goals in the first three quarters, then played goalie in the fourth as the Rangers cruised to a Frontier League victory at Nordhoff. Spike Wessler had five goals and Ryan Thompson added three for the Rangers (12-8, 3-0).
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Calabasas 10, Burbank 8--Sophomore Shera Wiegler and freshman Deborah Pepkowitz swept their singles matches, leading the Coyotes (10-4) to a nonleague victory at Burbank. The Bulldogs (12-1) lost their first match of the season.
BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Notre Dame 15, Alemany 50--Mike Wallace, John Radmacher and Ted Peszynski each finished the three-mile course at Pierce College in 17:47, with Wallace winning by less than a second.
Crespi 19, Chaminade 36--The Celts’ Mike Lafrieda ran the three-mile course at Malibu Creek State Park in 20:55, leading Crespi (3-4, 3-3) to a Mission League victory.
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Chaminade 22, Louisville 33--The Eagles (4-0) stayed undefeated in the Mission League as Mary Higgins won the 3.4-mile race at Malibu State Park in 22:25.51. Teammate Ashley Caro finished second while Sahliunn Fullove and Colleen Avery finished third and fourth for Louisville (3-1).
