Even if the Blue Jays win their second consecutive World Series championship, it appears there will be changes on the coaching staff, involving hitting coach Larry Hisle among others.

When asked Friday if Hisle would be back, Gaston said: “Larry’s done a good job. If Larry wants to come back, I don’t have a problem with that, unless there’s other people that might.”

General Manager Pat Gillick apparently would like to make a change and promote Willie Upshaw as his hitting coach.

Gaston, who continues to be criticized for his strategic moves, was asked whether he will finally receive his due credit if Toronto wins its second World Series title: “No, I don’t think so. I might tell you why at a later date, but not now.”
