AQMD Criticism

It was with great disappointment and some shock that I read your recent article indicating that members of the AQMD Board who are responsible for ensuring that Southern Californians live and breathe in a basin free of smog are not committed to that goal (Oct. 5). As the newest member of the AQMD governing board, I find the comments reported distressing and clearly not representative of the numerous other board members.

As president of the City of Los Angeles Marathon and a person who has lived in Southern California for my entire life, I have a strong personal and professional commitment to clean air. I am proud to be member of the governing board and am prepared to spend as much time as necessary to ensure that I am involved in cleaning up the air of the South Coast basin.
