Adrienne Sweetser
Orange Coast, So.
Cross-Country
Sweetser, from El Toro High School, is the second family member to run at Orange Coast. Her father, Vince, was a standout runner for the Pirates in the early 1960s. She had a solid freshman season last year and was 31st in the State meet. But this season, Sweetser looks even stronger. She has been OCC’s top runner most of the season and was fifth overall out of 164 runners Saturday at Moorpark Invitational. She credits running a little less--in an effort to avoiding nagging injuries--as the main reason for her improvement.
Other notables:
* Joy Burkholder of Saddleback had eight kills and 30 assists as the Gauchos beat Rancho Santiago in four games in volleyball.
* Heidi Emmrich of Golden West had 18 kills and 12 blocks as the Rustlers swept past Rancho Santiago and Riverside.
