Oxnard police are investigating the stabbing of a 28-year-old man who was found bleeding in the parking lot of an apartment complex where he had been visiting an acquaintance.

Reginal Jerome Savannah was stabbed several times in the upper torso in the 1400 block of Bayview Drive about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday. He was in fair condition Thursday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.

Sgt. Charles Dunham said police have only sketchy details of what happened and no suspects.

The victim told police he was assaulted by three men, but based on witnesses’ statements, police believe Savannah was attacked by one man whom he probably knew. Witnesses said they did not hear a struggle or see a group of people running from the scene.

Dunham said Savannah had been inside a ground-floor apartment at the complex for most of the day before he walked outside and was stabbed. Robbery is not believed to be a motive, because Savannah had his wallet when police arrived.
