San Gabriel : Water-Saving Rules OKd

Share

In an effort to promote water conservation, the City Council has given preliminary approval to regulations for major landscaping projects.

The new rules encourage water-saving measures such as use of water-thrifty plants, installation of soil-moisture sensors and replacement of lawns.

The rules apply to new or upgraded landscapes installed by developers or public agencies where a permit for building, grading or special use is needed. Many residential projects installed by developers must also comply.

Landscapes that cover less than 3,000 square feet are exempted, as are historic sites and cemeteries.
