Fire Aid Center to Stay Open 6 Months
A one-stop center in Calabasas that offers building permits and advice on sandbagging to fire victims will remain open at least one day a week for the next six months, Los Angeles County supervisors ordered Tuesday.
The center, which opened Monday at 4111 N. Las Virgenes Road, will initially be open five days a week through at least next week, a spokesman for the county Department of Public Works said.
The one-day-a-week schedule will go into effect when traffic dwindles, so residents will still not have to travel downtown to consult with representatives of the county fire, public works and planning departments, said Supervisor Mike Antonovich, who proposed the modified schedule.
