Ever the gracious hosts, the Denver Broncos ordered up some Minnesota weather for a visit by the Vikings, who used to thrive in such arctic conditions until they moved indoors.

The Vikings weathered the storm just fine, thank you.

Sean Salisbury passed for 366 yards and two touchdowns and Fuad Reveiz kicked four field goals, including a 43-yarder with 2:49 left, as Minnesota overcame turnovers, penalties and a 20-3 deficit to beat the Denver Broncos, 26-23, Sunday.

A morning snowstorm dumped up to six inches of snow on Denver, and although the field was clear, it was slippery.

The Vikings (5-4) made a final defensive stand, forcing a fumble by Glyn Milburn and recovering at the Minnesota 21-yard line with 54 seconds left, depriving Denver’s John Elway of a trademark fourth-quarter comeback.

Reveiz gave the Vikings their first lead, 23-20, on a 35-yarder with 9:17 left. Elway then maneuvered the Broncos (5-4) into position for Jason Elam’s 53-yard field goal.

But Salisbury passed to Cris Carter for a 55-yard gain to the Denver 30, setting up Reveiz’s game-winner.

Salisbury, who completed 19 of 37 passes, passed for a career-high 234 yards in a loss to Detroit two weeks ago after replacing an injured Jim McMahon, then threw for 347 yards last week in a loss to San Diego.
