Highlights
Kennedy sailed through league undefeated and extended its league winning streak to 33 games. Senior forwards Jeff Cummins and Pat Kunz led the way inside for the Fighting Irish, averaging 17.3 and 17.1 points, and senior guard Paul Pappas (16.8 points) provided the outside shooting with 68 three-pointers. The Fighting Irish advanced to the Division II-A Southern Section semifinals with a victory over Manhattan Beach Mira Costa, but were beaten in the semifinals by Lakewood Artesia, which won the Division II state championship. . . . Garden Grove won 10 of 14 league games, but never came close to beating Kennedy. Still, the Argonauts had a fine season thanks to the inside play of Cornell Archer (14 points, 9.5 rebounds) and the leadership of point guard Jim Sebreros.
