IRVINE — Camarillo High junior Monique Allegre fought back from a three-game deficit in the second set, but eventually fell to Palos Verdes Peninsula’s Amanda Augustus, 6-3, 7-5, Friday in the Southern Section individual singles semifinals at the Irvine Racquet Club.
The unseeded Allegre trailed, 5-2, in the second set, but she broke Augustus’ serve twice to tie the set at five games. However, the top-seeded Augustus won the last two games and then beat Arcadia’s Pam Trump in the final, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles play, Rio Mesa’s Jessica Improta and Danielle Ouwendijk were beaten by the eventual champions Nicole London and Amber Basica of Peninsula, 6-0, 6-2.
