OUTLOOK

After a third-place finish last season, Ocean View won a Division II-AA playoff game before meeting eventual State champion Brea-Olinda in the second round. This year, the Seahawks are the prohibitive favorites to win the league title, though they have a young squad. That’s why games in the Ladycat Classic, possibly against Brea and/or II-AA runner-up Cerritos Gahr, will play an important part in the team’s development. The Seahawks are in one of the most competitive, well-balanced leagues in the Southern Section. Ocean View’s strength is its inside game, and Magee and Juroe are the primary reasons for the strength. Team speed and quickness are also assets. Martin has high expectations for Jennifer Tuiolosega, who will likely start some, even though she’s a freshman. The more the team works together--and it will need to against teams such as Brea and Gahr--the better it will become.
