PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : It’s Simple: Win Two, Make the Playoffs
If the Raiders win their remaining two regular-season games, in Green Bay against the Packers next week and at home against the Denver Broncos, they are in the playoffs, plain and simple.
But beyond that, in the labyrinth that is the NFL playoff system, nothing is plain or simple.
The Raiders could still win the AFC West title if they are victorious in their last two games and the Kansas City Chiefs lose their final two.
The Raiders can get in the playoffs, even if they lose to Green Bay, by beating Denver. Unless the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers each win their final two games. Or if the Miami Dolphins should split their last two games, beating the San Diego Chargers, and the Dolphins, Jets, Steelers, Raiders and Broncos all wind up 10-6, the Raiders would lose the last playoff spot to the Dolphins on the fourth tiebreaker, which would be common opponents. Or if the Dolphins lose to the Chargers, it would come down to best average net points in conference games.

Raider cornerback Lionel Washington, who suffered a hip pointer in Sunday’s victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, expects to play against Green Bay.
