PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Ly’s Late Goal Gives Irvine the Victory

Irvine’s Joe Ly scored on a pass from Brian Peter with 10 minutes remaining to break a tie to give the Vaqueros a 3-2 victory over Long Beach Poly in the consolation final of the Los Alamitos boys’ soccer tournament Thursday.

Irvine (6-3) trailed 2-0 at halftime, but Peter and Jon Clark scored second half goals to tie the score.

In nonleague boys’ soccer:

Trabuco Hills 2, Valencia 1--Gerry Beckham and Chris Sena scored for Trabuco Hills (1-0). Scott Martino assisted on both goals.
