Decision Not to Air Bronco-Buccaneer Game Is Not Communicated
CBS originally planned to air the Tampa Bay-Denver game in Los Angeles on Sunday, but according to a CBS spokesman in New York, the network recommended to Channel 2 last week that it show the Phoenix-New York Giant game instead.
Problem was, Channel 2, which has disbanded its media relations department and made cutbacks in the programming department, didn’t get the word out about the change.
Most listings, including the one in Sunday’s Times sports section, had the wrong game.
“They make these changes without telling us why,” Channel 2 sports director Jim Hill said. “And then we get flooded with complaint calls.”
